2011 SPRING SALE REPORT
Prairie Quarter Horse Breeders Sale, Saskatoon

A large crowd attended the very exciting and successful 2nd Annual Prairie Quarter Horse Breeders Sale, hosted by the PQHB held April 23, 2011 at Prairieland Park Ag. Centre in Saskatoon, SK. A strong set of horses were consigned fom all over the province, as well as Manitoba.

The consignments of MJ Quarter Horses Of Ste. Rose du Lac, MB are always so popular and Jesse Lussier did a fine job of training and riding their horses, again this year. They consigned the High Selling 3yr. old gelding-lot 73, MJ Watch Peppyboy, a handsome big buckskin by PB Payday. He was purchased by Laurie Maynard of Dauphin, MB for $3,900. They also sold the Reserve High Selling gelding, Lot 9, MJ Wolf Watch a good-moving dun. When the lively bidding for him was over, Fred Haud of Battleford, SK was the winning bidder at $3,100. The High
Selling 2 Year Old, Lot 44, MJ Nickel Power, a red roan gelding was also consigned by MJ Quarter Horses and sold for $2,400, to Cody Williams of Pleasantdale, SK.

Each year we are offer weanling registered fillies and colts for sale from our breeding program along with select prospect yearling and started 2 year olds. There is a lot of quality (and color) available in these horses! Dun, red roan, blue roan and buckskin colts for sale.

What is a "Rider"?
"Riders" are sale horses bred and raised by MJ Quarter Horses, that we have started under saddle. These horses will have been started by Jesse Lussier and will have minimum of 30 days prior to sale. Jesse uses a Buford roping practice dummy to get the young horses to get a feel for rating cattle and comfortable having a rope thrown off them. The Buford can go at speeds slower than tracking real steers, which helps the young horses gain confidence watching cattle and learning to maintain the correct position.

The weanlings that we sell have all been handled on the ground and are halter broke.
